چکیده

Software-Defined Networking promises to overcome vendor lock-in by enabling a multi-vendor hardware and software ecosystem in operator networks. However, we observe that this is currently not happening. A framework allowing to compose SDN applications combining different frameworks can help revert the trend. In this paper, we analyze the challenges in the current SDN landscape and then present the multi-controller SDN framework developed by the NetIDE project. Our architecture supports different SDN southbound protocols and we have implemented a proof of concept using the OpenFlow protocol, which has given us a greater insight on its shortcomings.

Lessons learnt from errors in radiotherapy centers

Background: The purpose of this work is to discover and analyze errors and incidents in some radiotherapy centers, and to introduce methods that could reduce their occurrences, especially those which had happened due to the use of improper and inadequate equipment. This work is a first step toward clarifying the role of education in a risk-conscious culture, and changing the attitude of radioth...

Neural Network Based Protection of Software Defined Network Controller against Distributed Denial of Service Attacks

Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new architecture for network management and its main concept is centralizing network management in the network control level that has an overview of the network and determines the forwarding rules for switches and routers (the data level). Although this centralized control is the main advantage of SDN, it is also a single point of failure. If this main contro...

The Past, Present, and Future of Software Defined Networking

We trace the intellectual underpinnings of software defined networking (SDN) to earlier research threads spanning nearly 20 years and including active networking, early efforts to separate the control and data plane, and more recent work on a specific approach to SDN, namely the OpenFlow API. We highlight key concepts, as well as the technology pushes and application pulls that spurred each inn...

A High Level Rule-based Language for Openflow: A Proof of Concept based on Floodlight

This paper proposes XML-Defined Network policies (XDNP) a new high level language based on XML notation to describe network control rules in Software Defined Network environments. We rely on existing OpenFlow controllers specifically Floodlight but the novelty of this project is to separate complicated languageand framework-specific APIs from policy descriptions. This separation makes it possib...
